Martin Hill
Managing Director - Industry Research
Martin manages Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research business whose premium services include Intelligence Centre and the World Cellular and World Broadband Information Services. The Industry Research team now includes over 70 analysts worldwide.
Martin joined ITM in February 2006 as head of the Strategy & Markets portfolio of research services, reports and conferences. He became Operations Director of the Industry Research business in October 2007, including responsibility for the global Account Management team.
Prior to joining Informa, Martin gained over 25 years of experience in business-to-business research and information publishing with Thomson, EMAP, VNU and the Lafferty Group. He holds a degree in English from Oxford University.
Mark Newman
Chief Research Officer
Mark is Chief Research Officer within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division. In his role Mark is responsible for Informa Telecoms and Media's thought leadership in the converging mobile, broadband and entertainment sectors.
Mark’s most recent piece of research covers mobile operators’ business models*. It assesses the current health of the mobile operator sector, the threats to existing business models and provides an in-depth analysis of the viability of potential new ones. Mark has also published research on MVNOs, roaming and grey routing, and FMC.
Mark also manages the research teams covering the mobile sector. Their output includes the World Cellular Information Service and eight Intelligence Centres tracking both regional markets and vertical sectors including mobile networks, mobile handsets, mobile content and applications, and mobile operator strategy.
Mark has 20 years experience in the telecoms sector as a journalist, analyst and commentator. He is a regular speaker and moderator at international conferences in Europe, the Americas and Asia and is often quoted in the global business press. He also conducts regular briefing sessions with operators, vendors, leading banks and accountancy firms on industry trends and developments. Mark contributes a Telecoms Industry Outlook module to Informa Telecoms & Media’s Mini-MBA Programme.

Thomas Wehmeier
Principal Analyst
Thomas Wehmeier is a Principal Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division, where he heads up its regionally-focused research team alongside Nick Jotischky.
His specialized interests lie in analyzing mobile operator strategies, in particular looking at the impact of technology, competition and regulation on mobile operator business models. Most recently, Thomas has spent time developing Informa’s views on the issues of net neutrality, traffic management as well as being a thought leader in the LTE space.
Thomas has presented frequently at international events and is regularly quoted in the mainstream and trade press. He has a close relationship with Informa’s key clients and spends much of his time visiting operators, vendors & banks globally to advise them on the latest developments in the cellular industry.
Thomas is also a product manager of the Informa Telecoms & Media’s World Cellular Information Service and regional channels within Intelligence Centre, the leading services for quantitative and qualitative intelligence on the mobile industry, In this role he is responsible for directing the overall strategy and development of the services ensuring they constantly evolve to reflect the speed of development of the mobile industry.
Nick Jotischky
Principal Analyst
Nick is a Principal Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division.
In this role Nick co-manages Informa Telecoms & Media's wireless research team. His research agenda focuses on emerging market growth, examining key market drivers and trends in some of the world's fastest growing mobile markets.
Nick has 8 years experience in the telecoms sector as an analyst. Prior to joining Informa Telecoms & Media, he spent seven years at the specialist political and economic risk research house Business Monitor International, where he headed up the telecoms research unit. In that role, he assessed key emerging market investment opportunities in the telecoms sector, and produced several market reports to an audience of operators, vendors, solutions providers and financial institutions. Nick also had a brief spell with boutique research consultancy Kable, where he wrote a thought leadership report on public sector opportunities in the ICT sector.

Matt Reed
Senior Analyst, Dubai
Matthew heads up Informa Telecoms & Media's coverage of the wireless telecoms markets in the Middle East and Africa, focusing on developments in operator strategy, M&A, regulation and technology.
Based in Dubai, Mathew directs the research for the Middle East & Africa Intelligence Centre and is responsible for Middle Eastern coverage in the World Cellular Information Service.
One of Mathew's key roles is to work with Informa Telecoms & Media's customers in the region and to moderate and speak at international conferences. Mathew is also quoted regularly in the local and international business press.
Matthew has more than ten years' experience as a business journalist, primarily covering the media, telecoms and technology sectors.
Thécla Mbongue
Senior Research Analyst
Thécla is a senior research analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division and is a key contributor to Informa’s World Cellular Information Service.
In her role, Thécla is responsible for researching the telecoms industry in sub-Saharan Africa. Thécla also manages World cellular Data Metrics, in which Informa tracks mobile data usage and up-take, including SMS and MMS traffic volumes, mobile data subscriber information, MMSC contract awards, mobile data deployments and non-voice revenues. She is a key contributor to many of Informa’s reports such as the CDMA-450, HSPA or Multiple-SIM insights.
A native French speaker, Thécla is a regular speaker and moderator at international conferences in Africa and is often quoted in the regional and global business press.
Mai Barakat
Researcher
Mai is a Researcher within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division. She is responsible for tracking the progress of the ICT industry in East and North Africa as well as several Middle Eastern countries, with a particular focus on the mobile and broadband sectors.
As a fluent French and Arabic speaker, Mai uses her language skills to track operator performance, examine operator strategies and analyse ongoing regulatory issues across these regions. Mai’s articles are regularly published in WCIS+ as part of the Market Update service and she also contributes frequently to the Middle East and Africa’s Intelligence Centre. Moreover, she provides deep analysis into important issues affecting the Africa and Middle East regions in ITM's global insight reports. Mai also makes frequent contributions to another Informa publication called Global Mobile and is responsible for the Mobile Trends Analysis PowerPoint for Africa and the Middle East, which provides key data points and market trends sourced from WCIS+. She also co-manages Informa's World Cellular Investors product.
Mai holds a BSc in International Management and French and an MSc in Marketing from the University of Bath.
Ziad Kabbara
Research Analyst, Dubai
Ziad is a Senior Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division, based in Dubai and covering the Middle East market.
In his role, Ziad tracks and analyzes the progress of the mobile and broadband sectors with a particular focus on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, where he makes use of his language skills. He regularly writes case studies, market updates, country profiles and in-depth analysis for Informa's Intelligence Centre (IC) in addition to a weekly competitive intelligence report analyzing mobile operator strategies and ongoing regulatory issues across the region.
Ziad holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the American University of Beirut (Lebanon) and an MBA from Louisiana Tech University (USA). He is fluent in Arabic and French.
Hlombe Nonxuba
Research Analyst, South Africa
Hlombe joined Informa Telecoms & Media in January 2010 as a research analyst based in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she tracks and analyses the development of the telecommunications industry (fixed, mobile and internet) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Before joining Informa, Hlombe worked for Huge Telecom as a Business Revenue Analyst. Before that, Hlombe was an economic analyst at the South African Revenue Service, where she researched and reported on the local, national and international economy and its effects on tax revenue collection. Hlombe has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Economics.

Mike Roberts
Principal Analyst, Raleigh, North Carolina
Mike is a Principal Analyst covering telecoms networks and infrastructure for Informa Telecoms & Media.
His research forms part of the Networks Intelligence Centre, with particular areas of focus including mobile broadband, LTE, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, wireless VoIP, fixed-mobile convergence and IP Multimedia Subsystem. His most recent research is Mobile Networks Forecasts: Future Mobile Traffic, Base Stations & Revenues, which details how the rise of the mobile broadband Internet is sparking a traffic boom that will transform mobile networks, vendors and operators.

Kristin Paulin

Kristin is a Research Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division, based in Chicago and covering North American and Caribbean markets. In her role, Kristin primarily works in the regional research team responsible for Informa's World Cellular Information Service portfolio, including World Cellular Data Metrics.
She also regularly contributes to more in-depth research reports, where she produces deep dive analysis into the most pertinent issues affecting the North American region. Most recently, Kristin has worked on reports examining non-SMS data trends and an analytical overview of investment trends in the global cellular industry. Kristin has also contributed to research reports on the topics of WCDMA handset pricing, as well as HSPA's role in mobile broadband.

Daniele Tricario

Daniele is a research analyst in the Latin America team, where he tracks the evolution of the mobile and broadband ecosystems in Central American, Caribbean and Andean countries.
In his role, Daniele examines operator strategies across the region and focuses on operator performance and ongoing regulatory issues. He regularly writes country profiles, case studies and in-depth analysis for Informa Telecoms & Media's Intelligence Centre. He also writes for the research service Global Mobile Daily and contributes to reports on the LatAm region, and to the World Cellular Data Metrics and World Cellular Investors products.
Prior to joining Informa Telecoms & Media's industry research division, Daniele developed international conferences on telecoms networks and infrastructure, including the IMS2.0 World Forum, the SDP Global Summit and the Femtocells Forum. Charles Moon
Principal Analyst, Singapore
Charles looks at a broad range of telecommunications sectors in Asia Pacific, focusing on mobile strategies in the areas of mobile applications and marketing, wireless broadband, device distribution and the evolving role of operators within the consumer and enterprise segments.
In addition to tracking mobile value-added services in developed markets such as Japan and Korea, Charles also focuses on the business models of emerging market operators, analyzing how they combat high churn and low ARPU through innovative mobile data and distribution strategies.
Prior to Informa, Charles was a research manager at Pyramid Research, and before that, program manager for Yankee Group, overseeing consumer research in the APAC region.
Sarongrat Wongsaroj
Senior Analyst, London
Sarongrat is a Senior Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division. He is responsible for tracking the progress of the ICT industry in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on the mobile and broadband sectors.
In his role, Sarongrat keeps abreast of the goings-on in the ICT space within his region and produces analyses of the key trends that appear as quarterly briefs published on Informa's Intelligence Centre. In addition, he is a regular contributing author of World Cellular Information Service Insight, a key auxiliary WCIS product that adds depth as well as context to the data compiled by Informa's Industry Research team around topical issues in the global mobile industry. Past topics have included global mergers and acquisition trend, global broadband business model and usage trend, MVNO and mobile non-voice market.

Tingting Liu
Research Analyst, Asia-Pacific
Tingting is a Research Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division, covering mobile and broadband markets in Greater China Region and Asia-Pacific islands.
As a native mandarin speaker, Tingting is now based in ITM's Beijing Office and has a special research focus on tracking and analysing mobile industry developments in China. Her recent research covers in-depth analysis of Chinese mobile operators' mobile data service strategies. She is also a regular contributor to ITM's global insight reports.
Tingting joined Informa Telecoms & Media Group in Jan 2005. She holds a Masters Degree from University of Oxford and a Bachelor's Degree from Foreign Affairs University, Beijing, China, majoring in English and International Relations.
James Moore
Research Analyst
James Moore is a Research Analyst among the Data & Forecasting team and his primary focus is the updating of content on the World Cellular Information Service.
He has also contributed to numerous reports such as a report on infrastructure sharing as well as writing for the Intelligence Centres. His regional focus is on the Indian sub-continent and he has attended conferences and trade fairs in Asia Pacific including CommunicAsia in Singapore and GSM India.
Areas of interest have included amongst others the analysis of historical subscription growth and forecasts, examination of the uptake of data services, analysis of trends of performance operational data, investor developments in the region, and an analysis of the infrastructure vendors in the Indian subcontinent including the increasing trend towards passive infrastructure sharing and outsourced infrastructure deals.
James is also a member of the Handset & Devices team and has had a particular focus on monitoring the activities of the Japanese and Korean handset manufacturers including LG, NEC and Samsung. Megumi Takayama

Megumi is a Research Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division. In her role Megumi specifically covers the mobile and broadband markets in Pacific Rim, including Japan, Korea, Australia as well as Pacific islands.
She regularly writes country profiles and case-studies for Informa Telecoms & Media's Intelligence Centres, examining operator strategies and performances across the region. Dario is a Senior Analyst for Informa's Mobile Operator Intelligence Centre.
His main area of coverage is mobile operator strategies, researching issues impacting mobile operators' business models, partnering and retail strategies.
Dario has recently covered the mobile broadband, wholesale and MVNO markets. He has a deep knowledge of Western European mobile operator's behaviour in the region.
He began his career at the Economist Intelligence Unit of the Economist Group where he analyzed Energy and Telecom markets in Western Europe. He also worked for the Yankee Group as an EMEA Mobile Consumer analyst.
Dario holds a degree in Business and Economics from the Universita' Cattolica of Milan and an MA in Social and Market Research from University of Westminster in London.
Gemma Bunting
Senior Research Analyst
Gemma is a Senior Research Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's WCIS team. Gemma is the Analyst responsible for covering the CEE region, with primary focus on Russia and the CIS.
In her role, Gemma uses her Russian language skills to track current fixed and mobile developments in the emerging Russian and CIS markets. In addition, Gemma produces analysis for Mobile Communications Europe and Informa's Intelligence Centres and also co-managers Informa's World Cellular Investors product, which focuses on global acquisitions. Her most recent analysis contribution is for the WCIS team's insight report: 'Analysing Investment Trends in the Global Cellular Industry', where she focuses on mergers and acquisition trends in the CEE region.
Gemma has been with Informa since 2004 and in that time she has become a regular speaker at conferences throughout the CEE region. Most recently she spoke at Informa's Russia & CIS.com 2008 conference.
Elson Sutanto
Research Analyst
Elson is a Research Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division. In his role Elson specifically covers the mobile and fixed-line growth of Eastern European markets, in particular the Baltic and Balkan regions.
Elson also has a strong interest in tracking global WiMAX deployments, license awards and developments. Elson regularly writes country profiles for Informa's Mobile Communications Europe publication, analyzing the progression of various central and eastern European mobile markets. He also regularly contributes towards other Informa publications such as Global Mobile and 3G Wireless Broadband. Dexter Thillien

Dexter is a research analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Data & Forecasting Division, providing expert analysis for WCIS+ (World Cellular Information System) and the Mobile Europe IC (Intelligence Centre) with a primary focus on Western Europe specifically the Scandinavian, French-speaking markets, Turkey as well as any EU-level issues.
Dexter tracks the mobile markets in these regions, looking for operators’ strategies as well as ongoing regulatory issues. As well as regularly writing country profiles and analysis which are published across WCIS+ and IC, Dexter is also responsible for the Mobile Trends Analysis PowerPoint for Europe. Dexter holds a BA in European Studies from London Metropolitan University and a MA in the same subject from King’s College London, and he’s fluent in French and Spanish.
Stanimir Minov
Research Analyst, London
Stanimir is a Research Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research Division. Based on his previous experience and language expertise Stanimir covers the markets in German speaking Europe, Bulgaria, Belarus and the UK.
He started his career at Mobiltel Bulgaria more than three years ago and only after a year and half due to a good performance he was invited to set up marketing controlling function at Velcom - Telekom Austria’s subsidiary in Belarus. Stanimir has developed a series of strategic for the company business cases and contributed to the group wide transfer of knowledge.
Stanimir has a pronounced interest in mobile operator’s strategies and innovations in their business model. He is proficient in the use of German, Russian, English and Bulgarian. Stanimir has studied at three different universities the last of which was Vienna University of Economics and holds a Master Degree in Finance.

Gareth Sims
Head of Forecasting
Gareth is Head of Forecasting within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division, leading its centralised forecasting team.
In his role Gareth is responsible for the management and development of Informa Telecoms and Media's forecasts covering the mobile, fixed and media industries. Over the last seven years he has spearheaded the development of numerous forecasting products, spanning a range of sectors from devices and networks through to applications and services. He also manages the forecasts within WCIS, an industry leading market intelligence database whose numbers are quoted extensively throughout the ICT Industry.
His most recent work involved forecasting the rapidly changing mobile content and services market and developing models to predict the future growth of traffic on mobile networks.
Gareth has over nine years experience in statistical and financial modelling in the ICT industry. Before joining Informa, Gareth worked as a commercial analyst for MCI where he focused on European telecom pricing. Gareth holds a degree in Business Economics in which he specialised in Econometrics.
Nidhir Maudgalya
Senior Forecaster
Nidhir's focus as a Senior Forecaster at Informa Telecoms & Media is on building and maintaining forecasting models for the mobile, media and broader telecoms market.
He is responsible for the quarterly production of WCIS+ forecasts and the development and management of WCIS+ forecasting process in general. He works closely with analysts and researchers from the global markets division as part of the forecasting and modelling process to provide detailed analysis of key metrics for trends analysis of market and technological developments.
Nidhir has over 5 years of experience as an analyst and forecaster. His most recent model gauges the distribution of wealth across various age bands for the major markets in the world factoring in the key socio-economic and demographic factors.
From an educational standpoint, he is a BE in Electrical & Electronics and holds an MSc in Telecommunications from London South bank University.
Shannon Keefe
Market Forecaster, London
Shannon is a Market Forecaster within Informa Telecoms & Media's Industry Research division. She is part of ITM's centralized forecasting team and specializes in forecasting the demand of mobile services.
Her primary responsibility is to develop and maintain the quarterly forecasts within The World Cellular Information Service, the leading service for quantitative intelligence on the mobile industry.
Shannon has over 3 years of experience as an analyst and forecaster using statistical models. Her most recent work has been to examine technology migration trends to improve understanding of operators’ network building strategies.
Shannon holds an honours degree in Economics and MA in Economics with a specialization in econometrics and statistics.
